He began his career as an F-16 fighter pilot in the U.S. Air Force, where he learned to make high-stakes decisions under extreme uncertainty. After transitioning to civilian life, he became a hedge fund manager, running multi-million-dollar strategies across traditional markets and digital assets. An early adopter of AI-driven research and execution, he has spent years designing and deploying LLM-enabled and algorithmic trading frameworks that integrate macro data, on-chain signals, and behavioral dynamics to navigate volatility for institutional and private clients.

Beyond markets, Dr. Carmichael leads applied research in 2D nanotechnology and advanced materials, with a focus on graphene-enhanced concrete, energy storage, and resilient infrastructure. Working with engineers, defense partners, and industrial collaborators, he helps translate lab-grade innovations—such as graphene-basalt composites and next-generation batteries—into practical systems for energy, security, and critical infrastructure.
